  Oakley, Inc.'s sunglasses have once again earned Private Pilot magazine's highest ranking in the publication's annual optical performance test of leading non-prescription sunglass brands. According to the September 2003 issue of the world's leading general aviation magazine, independent lab analysis conducted at ICS Laboratories of Ohio awarded eyewear products from Oakley the highest ranking in every sunglass performance category measured, marking the second consecutive year that Oakley has dominated the competition.

• Oakley and Luxottica Group Settle Litigation
  Oakley, Inc. announced today that it and Luxottica Group S.p.A. have settled two previously announced patent and intellectual property lawsuits pending against Luxottica and its subsidiaries Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, Ray Ban Sun Optics, Arnette and Revo, regarding claims by Oakley for infringement of certain intellectual property rights.

• Secretary Hammond Busts Trademark Counterfeiters
  Secretary of State Mark Hammond announced today that agents of his office conducted a raid in Cherokee County that led to 2 arrests and the confiscation of over $40,000 in counterfeit Oakley sunglasses. Lewis Franklin Martin of Gastonia and Lisa Dawn Tansill of Huntersville, NC were arrested following an undercover sting operation led by an investigator from the Secretary of State’s Office and assisted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton stated that We’re always available to assist the Secretary of State’s Office in these matters, and were glad to assist this time. The buy-bust was facilitated by information provided in a February arrest made in Pickens County. The Secretary of State’s Office and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office confiscated over $50,000 dollars worth of counterfeit Oakleys in the raid.

• Oakley Raids Counterfeit Factories In China And South Africa
  Oakley, Inc., announced today the results of successful raids at three Chinese factories and two South African distributors engaged in the production and distribution of counterfeit oakley sunglasses. The raids resulted in the seizure of over 200,000 pairs of finished and semi-finished counterfeit oakley sunglasses and sunglass parts, along with manufacturing equipment and supplies used for their production. It is the largest quantity of counterfeit Oakley products ever seized in either country.
